Organic Food ~ What Is Organic Food?            page #1/2

Health is now the single biggest concern for people living in the World. Artificial ingredients such as additives, E numbers and flavourings are increasingly coming under the spotlight. Greater links are being made with pesticides and diseases. As a result, more and more people are eating Organic because they believe it is a better way to feed themselves and their family.

Organic Food is an alternative to unhealthy preserved food. The term Organic is controlled by the government. To claim a Food is Organic means that has been grown and processed without chemicals.

Organic Food has not been exposed to pesticides or herbicides. It has not been genetically altered. It also does not come from animals that have been given growth hormones.

There is a growing body of research that shows Organic Food can be more nutritious for you and your family. Organic Food is known to contain 50% more nutrients, minerals and vitamins than produce that has been intensively farmed.

The reasons more and more people are turning to Organics are linked to the public fears about genetically modified Foods, irradiation and the antibiotics fed to animals. It's not just fruits and vegetables these days that carry the Organic label. There's Organic milk, Organic cheese and Organic butter. There are even organic processed Foods - including cereals, pastas and even corn chips.

No other Food has higher amounts of beneficial minerals, essential amino acids and vitamins than Organic Food. Organic milk has nearly 70% more essential fatty acid omega-3 than its non-Organic equivalent. Essential fatty acids are essential for maintaining normal bodily functions. Studies have also shown Organic milk contains significantly more vitamin E and beta-carotene, an antioxidant that our body converts to vitamin A.
